Party Raises $100,000 for Symphony

More than $100,000 was raised for the San Diego Symphony at a fund-raising party for more than 300 business and community notables at the model homes of Pardee Construction Co.’s Alta Mar residential development at Del Mar Highlands.

It was the first private performance by the San Diego Pops and the kick-off of the symphony’s capital campaign. Pardee donated about $60,000 to underwrite the event.

The symphony’s goal is to raise between $300,000 and $500,000 toward the $6.5 million needed for the renovation of the downtown Fox Theatre, turning it into a world-class hall in which the symphony can open its season this fall. Funds raised during the campaign also will help establish an ongoing endowment fund and provide operating capital.
