Duane Bickett, former USC linebacker and the Indianapolis Colts’ top pick in the National Football League draft, has agreed to terms and is expected to report to training camp today.

The 6-5, 235-pound Bickett was the fifth player overall taken in the draft. Sources said his contract is a four-year deal in the “million-dollar range,” with most of the money up front, rather than deferred.

Bickett, 22, reportedly also has clauses in the contract calling for $15,000 to be donated to a USC alumni support group, and for the Colts to donate $100 to charity for every tackle he makes, and $500 for every interception.

The signing of Bickett marks the first time since 1982 that the Colts have signed their first pick in the draft. The team, then in Baltimore, traded Stanford quarterback John Elway to Denver in 1983, and last year, the first season in Indianapolis, lost Vanderbilt cornerback Leonard Coleman to the United States Football League.
