Two Simi Valley people were killed early Friday when their motorcycle, traveling at high speed, failed to make a curve on Los Angeles Avenue and flew several hundred feet into a ditch, Simi Valley police said.

Dead at the scene were Roderick McDonald, 34, and Jennifer Maciel, 29.

They were traveling west on Los Angeles Avenue east of Ralston Avenue along an ‘S’ curve when their motorcycle skidded, hit a raised embankment and landed several hundred feet from where they left the road, said Sgt. Bob Gardner.

A jogger discovered the bodies at about 6:45 a.m. Friends had last seen the pair leaving a Simi Valley restaurant-bar about 1:45 a.m., Gardner said.

A Ventura County Coroner’s autopsy later Friday found that McDonald died from head injuries and Maciel from internal injuries. Results of blood-alcohol tests were expected to be available next week, a coroner’s spokesman said.
