Evert Lloyd to Play in New Orleans Event
Chris Evert Lloyd will head the field at the second annual Virginia Slims of New Orleans tennis tournament at the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena Sept. 23-29.
A $30,000 winner’s purse will be up for grabs in the $150,000 tournament.
Among those joining Lloyd, ranked No. 1 by the Women’s Tennis Assn., will be Australian Wendy Turnbull, 32, currently ranked No. 9 by the WTA.
Turnbull is third in career prize money earnings behind Evert Lloyd and Martina Navratilova.
The lineup so far also includes Kathy Rinaldi and Carling Bassett.
