The New England Patriots are for sale as part of a $100-million real estate deal to be arranged by a New York investment bank, according to the Boston Globe.
The football team will be part of a package to be offered by Goldman Sachs & Co., a major Wall Street investment bank, the Globe added.
Patriot season-ticket sales have dropped steadily from the near capacity of 58,000 when the stadium opened in l97l, to approximately 25,000 this season, the newspaper said. The Globe reported the Patriots lost $300,000 in l984, one of only a handful of National football League teams that lost money.
