The United States Tennis Assn. announced its wild-card entries for the U.S. Open Championships, which begin Aug. 26 at Flushing Meadow, N.Y. Wild cards in the men’s field are Jay Berger of Plantation, Fla., Mikael Pernfors of the University of Georgia, Jim Grabb of Tucson, Luke Jensen of Ludington, Mich., Robert Seguso of Sunrise, Fla., Tim Gullickson of Boca West, Fla., Steve Denton of Driscoll, Tex., and Peter McNamara of Australia.
Three California women were chosen: Linda Gates of Hillsborough, Anna Ivan of Palo Alto and Rosie Casals of Sausalito. Also chosen were Andrea Jaeger of Largo, Fla., Leslie Allen of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sandy Collins of Odessa, Tex.
