11 Injured in Bus, Truck Crash
Eleven people were injured Saturday when a church bus returning from an outing on Palomar Mountain collided with a pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
Seven teen-agers on the bus and the bus driver’s 4-year-old son were treated and released at Palomar Hospital for minor injuries, a CHP spokesman said.
An 11-year-old girl, also on the bus, was taken to Sharp Children’s Hospital with moderate injuries, and the pickup truck’s two occupants were admitted at Palomar Hospital with moderate to major injuries, the CHP spokesman said.
CHP said the right front wheel of the bus came off as the bus was rounding a blind turn on Highway 76. The bus crossed the center divider and hit the pickup truck head-on.
