A cab driver was shot to death in his taxi near Los Angeles International Airport during an apparent robbery by a passenger. The driver, identified as Cyrus Johncox, 53, of Studio City was killed about 11:15 p.m. while he was working a night shift for the Beverly Hills Cab Co., said Los Angeles Police Officer Dan Spring. Spring said the driver’s usual routine was to spend night shifts picking up fares at the airport, but investigators have not yet determined whether he had been doing that on Friday night. The body was found inside his cab at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and La Tijera Avenue. Detectives are looking for a black male, 28 to 30 years of age, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, who witnesses saw leaving the scene shortly after the shooting, Spring said.
