Beer-Sale Ruling Delayed: At the request of the Thrifty Oil Co., City Council members Tuesday postponed a decision on whether to allow a Thrifty service station on 2801 W. Lincoln Ave. to sell alcoholic beverages. Thrifty officials plan to continue their appeal of a Planning Commission denial at the council’s Sept. 24 meeting. During a Sept. 10 meeting, the city officials plan to vote on a proposed ordinance that would outlaw the sale of such beverages as beer and wine at gasoline stations. Advocates of such bans say the sale of alcoholic beverages at gasoline stations leads to an increase in drunk-driving cases.
