New Yorkers hoping to win the largest lottery bonanza in North American history bought tickets at the rate of 18,900 a minute and pushed the jackpot to $41 million. Lottery Director John Quinn said sales “have been unbelievable,” with long lines of bettors stretching out of stores. He said odds of winning the top prize were 1 in 6 million. If more than one person matches the six winning numbers selected in tonight’s drawing, the prize will be divided.
