ERLICK, ABC CHIEF ATTORNEY, PLANS TO RESIGN IN ’86

Everett H. Erlick, chief attorney for ABC Inc. since 1972, plans to resign from the company after Capital Cities Communications completes its $3.5 billion takeover of ABC early next year, an ABC spokesman in New York says.

Erlick, 63, has been with ABC for 24 years. He was not available for comment when the company confirmed Friday that he plans to resign. However, he has been quoted as saying he is leaving ABC simply because he feels it is time for him to do something different.

No successor has been named yet for Erlick, who was an executive vice president and general counsel for the company, and a member of its board of directors. The ABC spokesman said Erlick’s replacement probably won’t be announced until after Jan. 6 next year, when Capital Cities is scheduled to complete its takeover of ABC.
