Canada defeated Honduras, 1-0, in a World Cup elimination soccer match at Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Forward George Pakos scored the game’s only goal in the 60th minute.
Pakos’ goal came after he intercepted a pass just outside the Honduran goal area.
The victory gives Canada the lead in the three-nation qualifying group. The Canadians have three points, Costa Rica two and Honduras one. The winner of the group will qualify for next year’s World Cup in Mexico.
