Hundreds of firefighters battled a 400-acre fire in Olympic National Park in Washington. The blaze, started from a weekend campfire, forced helicopter evacuation of 20 hikers from the Flapjacks Lakes area. In Wenatchee National Forest, also in Washington, an 800-acre fire was being mopped up. In Wyoming, a weeklong fire in Bridger-Teton National Forest was said to be nearing containment, and a 6,900-acre blaze in Black Hills National Forest was brought under control.
