Miami Dolphins owner Joe Robbie attacked the negotiating tactics of Dan Marino’s agent and said it did not appear likely that the star quarterback would end his holdout and sign a new contract before the season opener Sept. 8 at Houston, the Miami News reported.

Robbie said he wouldn’t purchase a $5 million insurance policy at a cost of $60,000 for Marino. Marino said in a prepared statement that he would have ended his training camp holdout if Robbie had agreed to buy the policy, which would have protected Marino in the event of a serious injury before his current contract is renegotiated.
