The State : Condor Rescue Plan Told

Share

A compromise plan to save the California condor from extinction will involve capturing four of the seven birds still in the wild and releasing three that are in zoos, federal and state officials said. The state Fish and Game Commission said the plan hinges on U.S. Interior Department approval of a $9-million purchase of a 13,700-acre sanctuary for the birds in Kern County. The plan has been rejected in the past.
