A chronic sex offender who was shipped to Miami by Santa Monica police earlier this year is back in a California mental hospital. Weston Hill, 44, was placed in Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk after being transferred from Gateway Satellite Hospital in Los Angeles. The case created nationwide headlines when Santa Monica Police Chief James F. Keane spent city funds to send Hill to Miami. Keane took the action because Florida shipped a convicted prostitute to Los Angeles two years ago. Irate Florida residents donated the money for Hill’s return flight to Los Angeles.
