Sun Will Make Sparkling Return for the Weekend
The unseasonal low-pressure system that brought drizzle and below-average temperatures this week unexpectedly stalled here Thursday, but forecasters said the system should leave today in time for weekend sunshine.
National Weather Service forecasters said the system moved closer to San Diego Thursday rather than traveling east toward Las Vegas as predicted, prolonging the stormy weather and occasional sprinkles throughout the county.
Partly cloudy skies and a 10% chance of rain are predicted for today. But a return to seasonal September weather is expected by Saturday--clouds will form only along the coast in the early morning--and otherwise sunny days are expected from the beach to the desert.
Coastal strip and inland valley highs in the low to mid 70s today will warm to the upper 70s by Sunday on the coast and into the 80s in the valleys.
Coastal lows are expected to be in the 60s and inland lows in the 50s.
Mountain highs in the 50s today may warm to the 70s by Sunday, with nighttime lows expected to be from 37 to 47 degrees.
Desert highs are expected in the 80s today, the 90s Saturday and above 100 Sunday. Lows should be in the 60s and 70s.
