‘Mind Over Body’

Share

I would like to comment on the Aug. 20 article about mental attitude and cancer, “Mind Over Body--Doubt Rekindled.”

The word “attitude,” like “love,” means very different things to people--let’s be clear. If by positive attitude one feels as though they do not need to examine their life, but rather continue on as before, as if they didn’t have cancer, this, then, is not the most healthy attitude. A “positive” attitude is often denial of what needs to be done.

We have found that the best attitude is one of acknowledging what is, and further striving to become what one is not yet.
