The former executive director of a National City health clinic was charged Wednesday with grand theft in the disappearance of more than $6,000 in clinic funds.
Peope Balista, 48, of Spring Valley, who resigned as director of Operation Samahan Health Clinic last year, is expected to surrender Friday at his arraignment, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Don Canning.
Canning said the results of an audit by the county auditor and a district attorney’s investigation led to the filing of the one grand theft charge involving missing funds from Oct. 31, 1982, to July 31, 1984.
The clinic receives both county and federal funds.
