About 2,400 homes and small stores, and 15 large industrial users lost electricity in the Pacoima area Wednesday after a car struck a power pole, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported.
The outage occurred at about 3:15 p.m. when the car struck a power pole near the intersection of Gain Street and Glenoaks Boulevard just west of Hansen Dam Park, DWP spokeswoman Elizabeth Wimmer said.
About 800 customers, including the industrial plants, regained power within 23 minutes, and service to another 800 was restored by about 6 p.m, officials said. About 800 homes were still without power by 10 p.m., but electricity was expected to be restored by midnight, Wimmer said.
