The attorney for a Philadelphia caterer accused of dealing cocaine to major league baseball players said that more players weren’t called as defense witnesses because “their squirming and squeeching on the witness stand” wouldn’t help his client.
Adam O. Renfroe Jr., attorney for Curtis Strong, 39, rested his case after calling one baseball figure, Pittsburgh Pirate Manager Chuck Tanner, as a defense witness in the U.S. District Court trial in Pittsburgh.
“Immunity has turned off America, and I hope it has turned off this jury,” Renfroe said. “I think and hope the jury will be sufficiently turned off.”
