Morgan Wins as Master’s Finishes Second
Cynthia Morgan covered a hilly 5K course in 21:29 Saturday to win the women’s division of the San Bernardino Invitational cross country meet.
Her effort, along with top 10 finishes from Kim Boing (7th in 24:21) and Denise Lydy (8th in 24:56) allowed The Master’s College of Newhall to finish second in the women’s portion of the three-team meet.
In the men’s division, Brian Haddock timed 33:46 to finish fifth on a 5.2-mile course and teammate Rory McDonald was ninth in 36:41, but Master’s was third overall with 59 points.
Host Cal State San Bernardino won both divisions of the meet. Its women’s team scored 26 points to turn back Master’s (41 points) and LaVerne (55). The CSSB men won with 27 points, with LaVerne second at 37 points.
