A fire of “suspicious origin” Sunday gutted an abandoned Loma Portal commercial building that once was a restaurant and later was A.J.’s, a topless bar.
The three-alarm fire, which broke out about 5 p.m. in the 2000 block of Midway Drive, took firefighters nearly three hours to extinguish, a Fire Department spokesman said.
The Metro Arson Strike Team is investigating the origin of the blaze, which caused damage estimated $1 million.
