Sockers Beat Aztecs in Exhibition, 3-0
The San Diego Sockers defeated San Diego State University, 3-0, in an exhibition outdoor soccer match Sunday at Aztec Bowl in front of 1,052 spectators.
The Sockers, who outshot the Aztecs, 31-5, opened the scoring with a 25-footer by Branko Segota at the 25:05 mark after Segota picked up a loose ball. Dzung Tran made it 2-0 two minutes later off a give and go from Segota.
Beto Luna scored the final goal at 43:26 off a pass from Brian Schmetzer.
Zothan Toth was in goal for the Sockers during the first half and Jim Gorsek played the second. John Gilson was in goal for the Aztecs in the first half and Daryl Pater the second.
