Cal State Fullerton’s home football opener against Nevada Reno was shown on television, but viewers never saw the finish.

The game was carried by Titan Cable Sports, which is Channel 33 on a number of North Orange County cable systems. The telecast started at 7:30 p.m. as advertised, but after three quarters, the game went off, and the station returned to regular programming. The fourth quarter was lost.

Explained Bill Robertson, the color commentator: “They had hired a Vietnamese student as a technician, and he thought football games only had three quarters.”

Maybe it’s just as well. The Titans lost, 30-3.
