England’s Steve Ovett overcame 96-degree temperatures and withstood Ireland’s Frank O’Mara’s sprint to win the inaugural Performance Sub 4 Invitational Mile in 3:55.13 at Ukiah, Calif.
O’Mara, who last week won the Fifth Avenue Mile in New York, finished second in 3:55.60. Ross Donoghue of New York was third in 3:55.94.
