NEW ORLEANS — Peggy Lee, a double Grammy award winner for her 1969 song, “Is That All There Is,” was hospitalized with chest pains Sunday and was to undergo a double-bypass operation later today, Touro Infirmary officials said.
Lee, 65, who had been performing in New Orleans, canceled plans to sing tonight at the White House for visiting Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. The operation was expected to take three or four hours, followed by three to five days recovery at the hospital, said Brian Panella, a spokesman for Lee. He said the singer was in good spirits.
