Padres Announce Hike in Ticket Prices for the Second Consecutive Season

SAN DIEGO — The Padres will increase ticket prices for the second straight season in 1986, it was announced Tuesday.
Elten Schiller, the Padres’ senior vice president of baseball operations, said there were several reasons for the increase. He cited increased player salaries, increased business costs and the fact San Diego gets less additional revenue than most teams from such areas as radio and television.
Seats in the field, plaza and press levels will cost $8.50 in 1986, a $1 increase over this year. Loge level seats will also go up $1 to $7.50. General admission will remain at $3.50.
“We’re really just catching up with the other clubs,” Schiller said. “You’ll find the Dodgers, Angels and Padres have had the lowest prices.”
The Padres broke the 2-million mark in attendance for the first time in 1985.
