Lakers Trade Earl Jones to San Antonio

Share

The Lakers traded second-year forward Earl Jones, a former No. 1 draft choice, to the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday for future considerations.

The 6-11 Jones had played in only two games for a total of seven minutes during his rookie season, when he suffered a stress fracture in his right ankle.

A former two-time NCAA Division II Player of the Year and a four-time All-American at the University of District of Columbia, Jones never was healthy enough with the Lakers to make a lasting impression. At San Antonio, he will compete with 6-11 Ozell Jones for a job.
