Setting Record Straight: Orel Better Than Dwight
Certainly Dwight Gooden is a tremendous pitcher. He led the majors in ERA, strikeouts and wins. He will be a most deserving recipient of the Cy Young and MVP laurels. However, his 24-4 (.857) record was not (as stated in your Monday edition) best in the majors. That honor went to the Dodgers’ Orel Hershiser at 19-3 (.864). Let us give credit where credit is due, please.
