Pack Leader Favored in Electioneer Futurity Pace

The $95,380 Electioneer Futurity Pace, featuring 10 of the top 3-year olds pacers in the West, will be run tonight at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Pack Leader is favored in the mile pace. Coming off an excellent 2-year-old season, in which he won 11 of 12 races, Pack Leader slumped at the beginning of this year, winning 6 of 25 races. However Pack Leader, trained by Robert Gordon and ridden by Gene Vallandingham, has won his last three races, including the prestigious $50,000 Governor’s Cup, Sept. 21, at Los Alamitos.

Pack Leader’s main competition is expected to be Magna Bird, who finished behind Pack Leader in both the Governor’s Cup and the California Breeders Cup. Trained by Robert Johnson and ridden by Joe Anderson, Magna Bird recorded the fastest mile time by a 3-year old, last Saturday, when he ran a 1:55.

Cut It Out, a filly and winner of 15 of her 19 starts this year, is also given a good chance in the race.
