Azusa : Sports Facility Ground Breaking
Azusa Pacific University will break ground for an $800,000 sports facility at a ceremony on Monday. The present soccer field on the northwest corner of the campus has been redesigned for track, soccer and football, with a 400-meter track, two long-jump and pole-vault runways, a water pit, a press box and bleachers that will seat 2,500. University officials said they expect it to be completed next February. Azus Pacific President, Paul Sago and director of athletics Cliff Hamlow will preside over the 5 p.m. ceremony, which will feature music by the university’s concert band and release of 100 balloons.
