North Carolina State’s Chris Washburn has returned to Reynolds Coliseum to resume a basketball career interrupted by his first -year brush with the law.
Washburn was convicted earlier this year on misdemeanor charges stemming from the theft of a stereo from another student’s dormitory room. As part of his sentence, the 6-10 native of Hickory, N.C. had to provide more than 300 hours of community service.
“I’m used to pressure,” Washburn said. “This has made me wise up, mature a lot faster, and I’m glad that it happened at an early age, that I have another chance to play again. So it has helped me see that this is not a joke, it’s serious business.”
