Four of Wilt Chamberlain’s former teammates at the University of Kansas said they received no under-the-table payments from boosters. Gene Elstun, John Parker, Maurice King and Bob Billings made their statements to USA Today.
Chamberlain claimed Thursday that he received a total of about $4,000 from two or three “godfathers” at Kansas when he was in school there in the 1950s.
King said he is not surprised Chamberlain might have been offered more than a scholarship, and Billings said: “Wilt obviously lived in a different world than any of us.”
