The Region : Evidence of Arson Found at Site of Fire
- Share via
Five flares were found at the starting point of a small fire that broke out Monday at Malibu Creek State Park, leading investigators to suspect arson, and another large fire at Pepperdine University apparently was caused accidentally by sparks from power lines blown together by the wind, authorities said. Sheriff’s Sgt. Allen Humphries said flares have not been found at any of the sites of other brush fires that broke out last week but authorities are still looking for possible links among the 19 blazes that charred more than 80,000 acres in Southern California.
