Time Correspondent Douglas Brew Dies

Douglas Brew, a veteran Time correspondent who was most recently West Coast bureau chief for the magazine, died Tuesday at his home in West Los Angeles.

Brew was 36 and had been battling cancer.

He took over Time’s Los Angeles office in February after six years in Washington where he covered the White House during President Reagan’s first term.

He started with Time in 1978 in the Los Angeles office after working for community newspapers and writing for magazines.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne Deisinger Brew; son, Matthew; his mother; and a brother, sister and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking contributions to the American Cancer Society.
