Malibu : Homeowners on Notice

Share

Engineers from the county Department of Public Works have found 130 homes in Malibu that might have flood or slide problems during the coming rainy season as a result of the fires that consumed thousands of acres of brush.

Engineers said owners could take several steps to forestall trouble. “They may need to sandbag their road so they can get in and out during a storm,” said Roslyn Robson, department spokeswoman, “or they may need to build a retaining wall.”

Department representatives will visit homes to offer advice to the 130 owners. Others who want information or advice can call the county’s Malibu building and safety office at 456-3381.
