West Hollywood : Veterans Day Parade Slated

The city and Veterans C.A.R.E., a national organization of gay and lesbian military veterans, will co-sponsor West Hollywood’s first Veterans Day parade at 1 p.m. Nov. 10.

Secretary of State March Fong Eu will be grand marshal. Participating units will include the Great American Yankee Freedom Band, bands from Locke and Fairfax High schools, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and veterans units from the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans and Disabled American Veterans.

The march will also include emigre veterans who fought for the Soviet Union and Eastern European nations in World War II.

The parade will start on Westmount Drive, near City Hall, turn west on Santa Monica Boulevard and turn south on San Vicente Boulevard to mid-block, near West Hollywood Park, where it will break for a 45-minute Veterans Day program.
