The seventh annual Superbikers, a motorcycling championship event held on a combination dirt and asphalt track, will be Sunday at Carlsbad Raceway. Riders will begin practicing at 9 and start racing at noon.

Among the riders entered are Rick Johnson and Broc Glover, both of El Cajon. Entrants will compete in motocross, road race and dirt track heats, with the top 18 qualifying for semifinals and the top 12 moving on to the 10-lap main event.

Nine local professional athletes will be honored next week at the 1985 Good Scout sports luncheon, a benefit for the San Diego County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The luncheon will be at 11:30 Tuesday morning at the Hotel Inter-Continental.

The athletes--for their dedication to sports, professionalism and concern for San Diego youth--are Steve Garvey, Kurt Bevacqua and Craig Lefferts, of the Padres; Gill Byrd, Linden King and Eric Sievers, of the Chargers; and Jim Gorsek, Cha Cha Namdar and Branko Segota, of the Sockers.

The sixth and final western championship race of the Formula MerCruiser Six-Litre Hydroplane series will take place this weekend on Mission Bay, off Ski Beach. Action will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The current point leader in the series is Rod Zapf of Manhattan Beach, with 1,206 points. Zapf, the defending national champion, is in second place in the rankings this year. Jim Squire of Lakeside is second, 35 points behind Zapf.
