A greater-alarm fire that investigators believe was deliberately set caused an estimated $32,000 damage to an unoccupied apartment in a 200-unit, two-story development in Tarzana Friday morning.
No one was injured in the fire, which broke out at 6:23 a.m. in the apartment at 18404 Collins St. The blaze engulfed the living room and kitchen before it was extinguished at 6:40 a.m. by seven fire companies, said Jim Wells, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
Wells said investigators have determined that the fire was caused by arson, but said he could not release details.
