This year’s ballot is dominated by elections in the county’s 28 school districts. Some 197 candidates are vying for 83 trustee positions to be filled in contested races. Several cities are seeking voters’ thoughts on specific issues and Buena Park is the sole Orange County city to be vote for City Council representatives. On this page and an an adjoining page are measures and candidates as they will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot. Descriptions of candidates are those provided by the candidate to county election officials.
Some 1,059,915 Orange County voters have registered for the Nov. 5 election, but officials only expect about 12% to go to the polls. As a result of last year’s passage of Prop. 38, bilingual ballots will no longer be available. Instead, the voter’s registrar’s office has assigned translators to various precincts for anyone who needs them.
