Left wing Doug Sulliman scored with 28 seconds left in the third period to earn the New Jersey Devils a 2-2 tie with the Detroit Red Wings Thursday night.

Sulliman shot Mark Johnson’s rebound over the prone body of Red Wing goalie Greg Stefan after the Devils pulled goaltender Alain Chevrier with less than one minute remaining in regulation.

The Devils (4-5-1) are 1-1-1 in overtime, while Detroit (1-8-2) has tied both its overtime games.

A power-play goal by Detroit’s Kelly Kisio 1:18 into the third period broke open a 1-1 game and snapped 16 consecutive periods of New Jersey not giving up a power-play goal.

Kisio took a pass from Steve Yzerman, split the Devil defense and shot a 10-footer, beating Chevrier low on the stick side.

Detroit’s Gerard Gallant opened the scoring with 29 seconds remaining in the first period with his sixth goal of the season, banging a Ron Duguay pass into an empty net behind Chevrier. Duguay’s assist was his 100th as a Red Wing.
