Mayoral Appointment Due: The Fountain Valley City Council is expected to appoint a mayor tonight to replace outgoing Mayor Ben Nielsen who is finishing his yearlong term. The five-member council votes on a new mayor each November. In other business, the city Agency for Community Development will vote on buying $30 million worth of bonds to implement an economic development plan that is expected to accelerate growth in the city. The funds will be used to help businesses locate in the city, City Manager Judy Kelsey said.
