Tustin : Shooting Victim Dies; Murder Charge Filed
A woman shot in the head at a Tustin motel Saturday died Tuesday after officials at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana disconnected her from life-support systems.
Denise D. Jones, 21, of Santa Ana was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., and police upgraded the charges against Jones’ boyfriend, Kenneth J. Ray, 21, of Compton, from attempted murder to murder, authorities said.
Ray was arrested at the Sixpence Motel several hours after the shooting. Arraignment is set for Tuesday.
“We are surmising there was an argument just prior to the shooting, but nobody was present in the room at the time, so there was no actual witnesses to the shooting or the circumstances behind it,” an officer said.
Ray was being held at the Orange County Jail on $250,000 bail.
