Ram quarterback Dieter Brock got out of the hospital Thursday and started working on his comeback, with a little help from a friend.

Brock was on the phone when Jeff Kemp walked off the field after practice.

“He wanted me to bring home the game film from the last game,” said Kemp, who will start in Brock’s place against the New York Giants at New Jersey Sunday. “He must be bored.”

Kemp delivered the film of the Rams’ 28-10 win over New Orleans to Brock’s home in Villa Park. He also visited Brock Wednesday at Chapman General Hospital, where Brock had a kidney stone removed Monday.

Kemp: “He said the food stunk and there was nothing on TV.”

It’s uncertain when Brock will be able to play again.

“I had some other things planned this week that I probably wouldn’t have planned if I’d known I was starting,” Kemp said. “It’s been an intense week for me.

“It’s a challenge as a backup to keep yourself disciplined and on top of it. Sometimes you get discouraged and frustrated. On Monday I said to (wife) Stacy, ‘This may be a long year being the backup.’ No sooner did I say that than I heard Dieter was out.”
