A body found last month alongside Ortega Highway, near the Orange-Riverside county line, has been identified as that of a 49-year-old Costa Mesa woman, a Riverside County sheriff’s spokesman announced Friday.

Audry Catherine Dutton’s fully clothed body was found in the early morning hours of Oct. 12 by a passing motorist about a tenth of a mile east of the county line. A Riverside County deputy coroner said the body was found shortly after death.

An autopsy found “no obvious trauma, . . . no obvious cause of death,” said Mickey Worthington, deputy coroner. Investigators are awaiting toxicological and microscopic study results to determine the cause of the woman’s death.

The victim, who investigators believe may have been murdered, was identified from fingerprints taken the day she was found, the sheriff’s spokesman said.
