The United States Football League, which has been unsuccessfully seeking a network television contract, said Tuesday that it has reached agreement with RCA American Communications for satellite syndication of its games when it moves to a fall season next year.
The system, which the league said was the first of its kind in professional sports, will still require the USFL to sell games to individual stations across the country. In addition, some games will continue to be carried by ESPN cable.
But league spokesman Bob Rose said Tuesday: “The decision has been made that we won’t be on a major network.”
