Pedestrian Killed at Street Crossing
A pedestrian died of injuries Friday after being struck while in an unmarked crosswalk by a car making a turn, police in Orange said.
Marianna Thorpe, 51, of Orange was on the north side of Chapman Avenue, crossing Center Street, when she was struck by a car turning left onto Chapman Avenue a few minutes after noon, Lt. Gene Hernandez said.
She was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, where she died at 2:40 p.m., he said.
The driver was not held, but an investigation of the accident is continuing, Hernandez said.
