Raines Named Montreal Player of Year
Tim Raines has been named the Montreal expos player of the Year for 1985 by the Montreal chapter of the Baseball Writers Assn. of America.
In a season-long poll, Raines outscored Hubie Brooks, 126-95. Jeff Reardon finished third with 82 points, while Bryn Smith was fourth with 67.
Raines, who shared the same award with Andre Dawson in 1983, was named the team’s player of the month three times during the season.
The left fielder led the Expos in most offensive categories, and was among the National League’s top three in batting average (.320), stolen bases (70) and triples (13) and on-base average (.405).
