Australia’s Greg Norman scored a two-shot victory in the $250,000 Australian Open golf tournament at the Royal Melbourne course, becoming only the fourth player to win both the Australian PGA and Australian Open in the same year.
Others accomplishing the rare double were Ossie Pickworth, Norman Von Nida and Kel Nagle.
It was Norman’s second Australian Open title--he previously won in 1980 at the Lakes course in Sydney.
